Fire
  • The weather and other issues prevent completion of the Railroad Track Gate Road project. A majority of the work is done, but some stone work remains. The road is now "all-weather". When work began, we could use the road only on the driest of days. Now, only severe weather prevents access.

  • Stand 10 was burned for hazard reduction and silviculture purposes. The burn went well and will provide wildlife with a new open area to explore and browse for forage.

RAWS maintenance
  • The forest is now home to a Remote Automated Weather Station (RAWS). The station allows us to accurately monitor the weather on the forest. Access to precise weather conditions are vital for fire management activities.

  • Stand 9 was burned in May. The burn was conducted for several reasons; hazard reduction; silviculture; and wildlife enhancement.
